Multifactor Authentication is required to be able to reset your email password if you ever forget it.
– To set up Multifactor authentication go to https://www.office.com/ and log in.
– In the upper right-hand corner click the circle with your initials in it and the menu below will open.
– Select view account
– Select “Security info” on the left side of the screen and then select “Update Info” in the box to the right titled “Security Info”.
– Select “Add method” in the security info pane
– On the “Add a method” page, select “Phone” from the list, and then select add.
– You will have your cell phone number and select the “Text me a code” bubble. Click next
– After selecting next you will receive a text message that you must enter. Enter the code into the next window and select next.
– On the add a method page, select “Authenticator app” from the list, and then select Add.
– A window for the Microsoft Authenticator will pop up, you must download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your cell phone. This will be located in the app store. Download app and select next
– Another window will display, after installing the app, open the app and allow all notifications. Select next.
– NOTE: You will receive a prompt asking whether to allow the app to access your camera (iOS) or to allow the app to take pictures and record video (Android). You must select allow so that the authenticator app can access your camera to take a picture of the QR code in the next step.
– After allowing notifications, select the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner of the app and select “+ Add account”.
– On the “What kind of account are you adding?” select “Work or school account”.
– Select “Scan a QR code”
NOTE: If the QR code reader can’t read the code, you can select Can’t scan the QR code and manually enter the code and URL into the Microsoft Authenticator app.
– Return to Office 365 on your computer and scan the QR code that appears on the screen.
– The authenticator app should successfully add your work or school account without requiring any additional information from you.
– Select Next on the Scan the QR code page on your computer. A notification is sent to the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device, to test your account.
– Approve the notification in the Microsoft Authenticator app. Your security info is updated to use the Microsoft Authenticator app by default to verify your identity when using two-step verification or password reset.

How to change your password with Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
– Go to https://www.office.com/
– Select sign in located in upper right-hand side of screen
– On the password scree select “Forgot my password”.
– Enter your email address and the correct characters in the boxes on the next screen.
– On the verification screen, to the left, select “Approve a notification on my authenticator app” and click “Send Notification”.
– You will receive a notification on your phone from the authentication app. Select approve on your phone.
– Office will load to the second verification needed. If you set up your cell phone number for the additional verification, select “Text my mobile phone” and input your cell phone number and select next.
– You will receive a text message with a code. Enter that code into the next window and select next.
– On the next screen you will need to create your new password. Enter the new password in both boxes. The password must match in order to save. Select Finish.
How to reset your Office 365 password
– Go to https://www.office.com/
– Select Log in on the upper right-hand corner of web site
– Enter your username and password
-Type your old password, and then type a new password and confirm it.
-Click Submit.
Password guidelines
When you create a new password, use the following guidelines.
-Use 8 to 16 characters.
-Create a strong password that can’t be easily guessed or cracked.
-Work or school account passwords require at least 3 of the following:
Lowercase letters
Uppercase letters
Numbers (0-9)
Symbols, including: ! @ # $ % ^ & * – _ + = { } | \ : ‘ , . ? / ` ~ “ < > ( ) ; Source – Change or reset your password in Microsoft 365
