Anna Maria College’s Esports program has leveled up in a big way! The team has officially moved into a newly remodeled facility on campus. This isn’t just a new room; it is a strategic upgrade designed to give players the professional environment they need to train, compete, and take their game to the next level.
“This move reflects the rapid growth of esports at Anna Maria, both in the number of students participating and in the level of competition we are entering,” said Andrew Ghataora, Director of Esports.
Building a Home for Future Champions
The program has seen incredible success in a short amount of time, winning six conference championships and one national title since its debut in the Spring of 2023. Last year alone, the Overwatch team secured a conference championship at the highest level in program history, and all the teams made multiple playoff appearances. Going into this year, the program will be participating in ECC and ECAC, looking to bring home rings and trophies to display in the new facility.
According to Ghataora, the new space was a direct response to this success. “As more players join the program, the need for a more professional space became clear. The new facility meets that need and opens the door to new opportunities for hosting on-campus events, professional development for students, and meaningful collaboration across campus through gaming and technology.”
More Than Just a Room: A Hub for Community and Growth
This new facility provides the teams with a home base to continue their winning streaks. With more flexibility to schedule tournaments and community events, Esports is poised to strengthen its presence on campus and build connections with the wider collegiate esports community.
The goal is simple: give players the resources and stage they deserve to compete, improve, and represent Anna Maria College at their best.
