Apex Legends went through the wringer Monday night. With AWS down, it was a rough one
for Team Apex. Constant disconnects, lobby restarts, and the grind of staying focused
made it a battle from start to finish. In-game lead Jahmir Hamlin kept the squad locked in
and led them to a top 3 placement in their group. Facing off against some of the top college
teams in the scene, this was a big-time win for Anna Maria College Esports.
Tuesday brought a tough matchup for Street Fighter, taking on one of the strongest teams
in the division. It was a back-and-forth fight all the way to the final round, but it ended in a
loss for Week 4. Meanwhile, on the virtual court, Sebastion from Team 2K came back
swinging. After a tough week prior, he locked in a clean 2-0 win and is ready to keep that
momentum rolling.
Wednesday was all about Ben Milgate, our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate standout. The
freshman came through with another dominant win, staying undefeated and locking in a
playoff spot. If he keeps this up, he’s on track to be the top seed going into the playoffs.
Thursday was packed. Team Rocket League went the distance in a nail-biter of a series. It
came down to Game 7, tied 3-3, and after four intense minutes of overtime, Anna Maria
found the net and walked away with a 4-3 win. Team Overwatch, on the other hand, had a
rougher outing. They went toe-to-toe with a tough opponent but ended up on the losing
side. Still, it was a hard-fought match with plenty to take away.
Friday was redemption day for Overwatch. Fueled by the loss on Thursday, they came out
swinging and made quick work of their opponent. That win locks them in their spot as a
serious playoff contender in the ECC. Call of Duty had a tougher night. Despite a strong
effort from captain and in-game lead Mike Verran, the team couldn’t pull out the win. It was
a tough loss, but there’s solid gameplay to learn from as they reset for the next week.
