Hello! My name is Luke Joseph ‘28 from Plymouth, Massachusetts, and I am finishing my first year at Anna Maria College! I am a Fire Science major, Theology minor, and a member of the AMCAT Baseball Team.
As I conclude the 2024-25 Academic year, it is time to reflect on the many great memories that I have made! I have been blessed with the opportunities presented to students here at Anna Maria. Since I arrived, I have experienced the benefits of getting involved in the on-campus community!
I chose Anna Maria College because of the knowledge and real-world experiences held by the faculty. Over my first two semesters, I have furthered the formation of my knowledge within the fire service. Being a Fire Science major requires skillful training and education, which is exactly what you will find at Anna Maria College. In my freshman year, I learned valuable information that I look forward to using when I enter the fire service workforce. I have also completed the EMT Course offered by the college, which has allowed me to expand my knowledge of medical-related education. In the rapidly changing public safety field, it is critical to be well-rounded. The Anna Maria College Fire Science program provides students with the opportunity to be trained in both fire service as well as emergency medical service operations.
I have also been able to develop within the AMCAT Athletic Family. As a student athlete, I have found myself expanding my abilities both on and off the field. The lifestyle of a student-athlete allows for the gain of unmatched skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication. I am passionate about continuing to make an impact as an AMCAT, both on the baseball field as well as in the campus community.
I look forward to continuing my involvement in the Department of Campus Ministry when I return in the fall. As a Catholic institution, I am grateful for the opportunities provided to me to assist in the continuation of the Anna Maria College mission. I have been selected to serve as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes President, which grants me the opportunity to assist my peers in growing their relationships with God. It is a great honor to be given this role, and I am excited to continue working with Campus Ministry in future liturgical services, spiritual development, as well as community outreach.
I am very thankful for the Anna Maria leadership, faculty, and all other campus employees who help provide a sense of comfort to the students. The Anna Maria College experience is a transformative and impactful journey, which allows students to develop as well-rounded individuals. As my first year comes to an end, my three suggestions for new students would be to take advantage of the knowledge of our faculty, become involved in student life, and embrace the ideology of cultivation of personal moral responsibility. As Anna Maria students, it is our responsibility to embrace our education, as well as our abilities, to become ethical members of society. I know that all of us have the potential to make a change in our world
As my first year at college concludes, I look forward to returning to Anna Maria in the fall of 2025! I cannot wait to see the impact that we, the Anna Maria College Community, can one day have on the world. I look forward to seeing you all again next year and welcoming our newest AMCATS in the class of 2029!
