Team Apex had a strong Monday. In-game lead Jahmir Hamlin kept everyone steady and focused, and the team picked up enough points to hold their position in the group. With the points they earned, they officially secured a spot in the national playoffs. Solid way to start the week.
Tuesday was a good day for both Team 2K and Team Street Fighter. Each player locked in a spot for their title’s play-ins, giving both teams a real chance at making a playoff run. They’re spending the week tightening up their play and prepping for what could be two more postseason appearances.
Wednesday wasn’t ideal for Team Super Smash Brothers Ultimate (SSBU). Ben Milgate took his second loss of the season, but it didn’t change the bigger picture. He has had an impressive run all year, and his overall performance earned him the number one overall seed. He heads into playoffs in a strong position to chase a championship in his first season.
Thursday brought more good news. Team Rocket League secured another playoff spot, marking their fourth straight appearance. It’s familiar territory for them, and they are aiming to bring home another ring for the AMCATS. Team Overwatch also wrapped up their ECAC season with a positive 4-3 record. It was the first time in program history that a team competed in the highest division. They missed the playoffs this time, but they already have their goal set for the Spring.
Friday was mixed. Team Call of Duty, led by in-game lead Mike Verran, wasn’t able to secure a playoff spot. It’s been a while since the team missed the postseason, and they plan to regroup and come back stronger in the Spring. On the other hand, Team Overwatch picked up a quick playoff win in ECC, taking down the University of New Haven. Now they’re heading into the ECC Finals this Friday.
Player of the week is Alfredo Rodriquez, Overwatch DPS Player
