AMC Esports kicked off the season with the debut of our Apex Legends team. In-game leader Jahmir Hamlin led the squad to a top five finish, including a huge first place win in Game 5. Hamlin is currently sitting at number two in kills and number five in damage out of 57 players across 19 teams. Safe to say we made our presence known. The goal now is to stay in the lead and break into the top three next week.
Tuesday saw two more titles join the lineup, NBA 2K and Street Fighter 6. Both came out with wins. After dropping Game 1, Sebastion Jouissance locked in and bounced back to win the series 2 to 1 in their 2K debut. Over in Street Fighter, Aaron Vazquez handled business fast with a clean sweep. Both are dialed in and ready for next week.
Wednesday, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competitor Ben Milgate made quick work of the match. The freshman dominated on the sticks and closed it out fast. He’s got a bye next week but is already prepping for his next showing in two weeks.
Thursday brought out our seasoned squads. Rocket League came out swinging with a clean win to open the season. Overwatch, on the other hand, took a tough loss in their opener. Rocket League will look to ride the momentum. Overwatch is hitting the VODs and coming back stronger next week.
We closed out the week on Friday with a quick win for Call of Duty. Overwatch had a bye, using the break to prep for next week. Call of Duty now sets its sights on building momentum for the rest of the season.
The player of this week is Jahmir Hamlin, Apex In-Game-Lead.
