Position Title: Graduate Assistant for Commuter and Weekend Student Engagement

Department: Student Life

Reports To: Director of Student Activities

Position Overview: The Graduate Assistant for Commuter and Weekend Student Engagement supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of student engagement initiatives, including campus-wide programs, commuter student engagement, weekend and late-night activities. This role includes a mix of administrative, event-based, and student-facing responsibilities, all designed to foster a vibrant, inclusive campus experience aligned with the mission of the Office of Student Activities and Anna Maria College.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Commuter Student Engagement and Support
    • Design and implement commuter student-centered programs and services (e.g., welcome events, commuter lunches, community meet-ups).
    • Develop weekday programming aligned with commuter schedules
    • Facilitate and manage the Commuter Student Locker Reservation process
    • Build communication pathways for commuter students
    • Partner with campus partners to address commuter needs
    • Serve as a visible advocate for commuter student experience
  2. Campus Programming and Events
    • Support the planning and execution of large-scale events, such as Welcome Week, Spring Week, and other campus traditions.
    • Help coordinate weekend and late-night programming to provide engaging alternatives for students.
    • Collaborate with campus partners and vendors to ensure event success.
    • Serve as on-site lead or support for 1-2 events per week, typically during evenings or weekends.
    • Assist with purchasing and inventory for Student Activities materials and supplies.
    • Support assessment efforts by collecting data and feedback from programs and initiatives.
  3. Marketing and Outreach
    • Create and manage promotional materials for events and programs.
    • Contribute to the Student Activities social media presence and the weekly What’s Happening email.
    • Participate in outreach efforts to increase student involvement and visibility of events.

Work Hours:

  1. Total of 15 hours total per week.
    • 5 hours of in-office administrative time (including team meetings and 1:1 with supervisor)
    • Around 10 hours weekly of programming lead/support

Salary: $15.00 per hour
