The director will be a full-time tenure-track faculty position appointed at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor, to begin January 1 or July 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to renewing and growing the program. The program offers an interdisciplinary perspective on Criminal Justice and a commitment to social justice. The program has a strong interest in applicants with professional experience in criminal justice and expertise in criminal justice reform initiatives for the 21st century and working with diverse populations. The program offers undergraduate programs on ground and online, a master’s program online, and various minors (Victimology, Homeland Security) and several certificate programs. There are aligned undergraduate majors in Law, Justice and Society and Forensic Criminology that complement the criminal justice program and share course offerings and concentrations.
Required qualifications for the director position include a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or closely related field from an accredited institution, established record of effective teaching at the college-level, at least two years of academic administrative experience and a scholarly agenda with evidence of peer-reviewed publications/presentations relevant to the field of Criminal Justice. Additional qualifications can include experience working with Criminal Justice agencies in both the private and public sectors, as well as pertinent professional organizations.
Candidates with a demonstrated record of effective leadership in promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service in a respectful and collegial environment will be given priority. Experience with curriculum development, program review and assessment, and securing external funding through grant writing are considered as desirable characteristics in a director. Candidates should be committed to fostering diverse and inclusive environments and to utilizing experiential learning.
