The Criminal Justice Program at Anna Maria College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Criminal Justice faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor, to begin July 1, 2023.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to join a renewed and growing program. The program offers an interdisciplinary perspective on Criminal Justice and a commitment to social justice and responsibility. The program has a strong interest in applicants with professional experience in criminal justice, expertise in criminal justice reform initiatives for the 21st century, and working with diverse populations. The program offers undergraduate and master’s level degrees in criminal justice and several certificate programs as well.

Qualifications/Responsibilities:

A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from an accredited institution and prior experience in teaching at the college level are required. While the candidates’ field of expertise within criminal justice is open, candidates should be prepared to teach the program’s core and elective courses within the candidate’s specialization, including Foundations in Criminal Justice, Policing in America, and/or Corrections. Primary responsibilities for the position include teaching four courses each semester, advising undergraduate students, and participating in departmental activities. Candidates should be committed to fostering diverse and inclusive environments and to utilizing experiential learning methods in the classroom.

In your statement of teaching philosophy, please discuss the current challenges and critical tasks for criminal justice education.
