POSITION SUMMARY:
The Graphic Design Assistant professor reports to the Chair of the Department of Art and Graphic Design. This is a 9-month faculty position with teaching in the Graphic Design major as well as addition responsibilities as the Internship Coordinator for the Department. The Graphic Design Assistant professor is required to participate in the mission and governance of Anna Maria College, Department of Art and Design curriculum development and assessment and assist in student recruitment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach 6 courses per year as assigned (18 credit hours per year
- Promote high standards of academic achievement and integrity in assigned courses;
- Implement established course syllabi or develop new syllabi in accordance with College standards;
- Review student work and report grades to students on a timely basis;
- Maintain documentation according to college and Department policy;
- Engage in continuing development of effective instructional strategies;
- Hold regular office hours for student conferences;
- Maintain a portfolio of student advisees, guiding them in progression toward degree;
- Write letters of recommendation as requested by students or alumni of the Program;
- Participate in relevant professional development activities to stay abreast in the field of graphic Design.
- Service Responsibilities
- Internship Coordinator: Develop and manage Internship venues, placement, and related opportunities for all the majors in the Art and Design Department.
- Develop Recruiting Activities for our programs, coordinating with admissions.
- Produce departmental graphic design work for several programs which occur annually (exhibitions, presentations, therapeutic programming), for Art/Design and Art Therapy public programming.
- Lead the Annual New England Secondary School Scholarship Exhibition Program (recruitment event).
- Contribute to a collaborative and collegial working atmosphere within the Department and the College, supporting the stated missions, philosophies and goals;
- Meets with the Department Chair on a regular basis to discuss departmental goals and priorities;
- Participate in faculty development and training;
- Employ communication systems, technologies, and policies in service of the smooth operation of the institution;
- Adhere to provisions described within the Faculty Guidebook and Faculty Handbook;
- Serve on college-wide, faculty, and departmental committees, as needed.
- Maintain verbal, written, and/or electronic communication with current and potential Graphic Design students.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO REACH ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE:
- Minimum requirements: M.F.A. in Graphic Design or related field, college teaching preferred
