The Massachusetts Latino Police Officers Association will hold its membership meeting at Anna Maria College on Saturday, May 21. At the meeting, the Association plans to rename its scholarship program in memory of Worcester Police Officer Manny Familia who lost his life while heroically trying to save a young boy from drowning in Green Hill Pond in 2021. Members of the Familia family will join Worcester Police Chief Steve Sargent, Association President Yessenia Gomez and other partners for the event.
Officer Familia was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Anna Maria College at the time of his death.
