Program Overview

The program in English prepares students for a wide range of careers and graduate study, focusing as it does on the study of literature in English and the development of critical reading and writing skills.  Past students have gone into work in public relations, law, library school, journalism, and publishing.

Students successfully completing the Bachelor’s degree in English will be able to:

  • Identify and explain different general and verse literary forms
  • Demonstrate familiarity with major authors and their works from different historical period
  • Apply and analyze different genre of literature
  • Evaluate literary elements of different historical periods
  • Apply literary theories in papers and presentations
