Studio Art Major
Bachelor of Arts in Art
The Studio Art major develops essential skills in different media through intensive studio courses, preparing students for a wide range of art-related career options or graduate study.
In addition to the College and Art core requirements, Studio Art majors must complete three, two-course studio sequences (including one 3-D medium) from the following:
Printmaking I & II
Oil Painting I & II
Watercolor I & II
Photography I & II
Intro to Sculpture/Pottery & Advanced Sculpture OR Advanced Pottery
Required courses:
Advanced Drawing
2 Art Electives or
6 credit art internship

Minors in Art
Students who major in other fields may minor in Art. An art minor may be of particular interest to any student who wishes to engage in a creative endeavor, or the Business major who may find art and design skills an asset for a career in marketing, advertising, or public relations. A portfolio presentation of basic artistic skills is required to declare a minor in art. To earn a Minor in Arts, students must take the following 18 credit course of study: History of Arts and Ideas I or II, Drawing for the non-major, or Drawing I , Fundamentals of Design and Fundamentals of Color, and two studio electives.
